Everycare Eastbourne would like to wish all their clients and staff a happy 2018!
2018 looks like it will be another busy year (our 21st year!) supplying home care to the people of Eastbourne and the surrounding areas.
Thank you to all our fabulous carers who provide a wonderful service throughout the year.
In the summer a bold statement of intent was published setting out a single view of high quality adult social care. The creation of commissioners, providers, staff, national bodies and people who use services, their families and carers, it was a joint commitment to making a real difference for service users, carers, families and everyone working in the sector. It was called Quality Matters.
The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) was one of its many contributors. Professor Gillian Leng, Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Health and Social Care at NICE believes that the delivery of effective and efficient care is dependent upon health and social care services working more closely together. In his announcement today, Damian Green, First Secretary of State and Minister for the Cabinet Office said that the social care green paper will be published by summer 2018. The green paper will focus specifically on the care of older people and is expected to cover a wide range of issues such as housing, technology and welfare, as well as social care and funding.
In the meantime, the government will be consulting widely with the sector and taking advice from independent experts.
Bridget Warr, UKHCA Chief Executive said:
“Whilst we are disappointed with what appears to be a further delay to the green paper, UKHCA welcomes the plans to consult with the sector. We will be active in providing a strong voice for (and with) homecare providers. UKHCA will be pressing for the green paper to cover a long-term funding solution for all people who use social care services, whether purchased by the state or privately, alongside measures to support workforce capacity and skills.”
Once the green paper is published in summer 2018, it will be subject to a full public consultation.
