Everycare Eastbourne celebrates 21st birthday!

Birthday greetings We are 21 today!!! It hasn’t been easy by any stretch of the imagination but Andy & I haven’t done it by ourselves. We’ve had our wonderful Louise Craig next to us since day 1, a fantastic office team and hundreds of care & nursing staff over the years to enable us to care for & keep hundreds of clients in their own homes.

A huge thank you too, to our family & friends who have picked us up when we’ve been down & given us the strength to face another day.

We’ve had more laughter than tears and we’ve definitely got more grey hairs!

Thank you to everyone that’s supported us along the way, you know who you are & we couldn’t have done it without you. Happy 21st!

Elderly in 24 hour care – numbers set to double.

A report by Newcastle university has forecast that the number of people over the age of 85 who will require 24 hour care will double by 2035 putting increased pressure on the whole care system.

Recognising realistic solutions to this crisis that are financially prudent will become an increasingly important consideration.

Live in care is likely to become the care product of choice in a greater number of cases.

Everycare Eastbourne already provides live in care services to the people of Eastbourne and surrounding areas as well as making presentations to groups across the area to explain how and why live in care works.

Use Tax-Free Childcare over the summer holidays

The Government is reminding ‘stressed out parents’ that help may be available for childcare costs during the summer holidays. According to a YouGov poll, 31% of parents feel stressed trying to arrange childcare for the school holidays.

The poll, for HMRC, also found that around 30% of parents worried about balancing their job and school holiday childcare. With 54% admitting they look forward to their children returning to school in September.

HMRC is reminding working parents with summer childcare costs, that they can use Tax-Free Childcare (TFC), which is worth up to £2,000 per child per year, to pay for regulated holiday clubs during the school holidays. Parents are advised that it is possible to pay into their account regularly and ‘save up’ their TFC allowance and use it for childcare during school holidays.

Remaining in your own home in familiar surroundings is however widely recognised as beneficial to those suffering with dementia and Everycare have spent over 20 years trying to enable the people of Eastbourne to do just that.

Now, with their live in care service, they are able to enable those with more challenging needs such as dementia stay safely at home. For more on this story visit the BBC News website.
