WINCHESTER EVENT TEACHES OVER 65s HOW TO USE TECHNOLOGY

Winchester EverycareA hands-on technology masterclass for the over 65s in Winchester, hosted by local domiciliary care provider Everycare, came to Badger Farm this Valentine’s Day, to help attendees fall in love with their smartphones and tablets. TechFest65 had the local community centre filled to bursting with local residents, all keen to receive expert advice from the Everycare team and local partner Vodafone, about their devices.

TechFest65 was first launched in October 2017 by Everycare, in an effort to help the over-65 population of Winchester become more confident and connected with new technology. Following staggering levels of interest, the local domiciliary care provider has been inspired to host a series of follow up events throughout 2018, all designed to help demystify the likes of smartphones, social media, the internet and apps for the over-65s.

Attendees at the Valentine’s Day event were able to bring along their own devices and quiz experts from Everycare and Vodafone about how to make the most of them, whilst enjoying tea, coffee, cake and good company.

Kathy, one attendee from Winchester commented on the event: “I enjoyed the event very much. We found the event in October to be very useful. It would be helpful to have 1 every 6 months or so.”

Mike Frizzell, Managing Director of Everycare (Central Hants), said “TechFest65 is a great opportunity for elderly people in Winchester to learn about new tech. It’s not always easy to keep up with new trends but we hope they found the Vodafone team of use and will return to future events.”
