Carers of the Month – Carolyne & Grace

A big thank you to our Carers of the Month, Carolyne and Grace.

Carolyne Nekesa Obonyo is a fantastic carer with a calm, positive approach, always adapting well and showing excellent judgement.

Grace Warland has received great feedback from clients for being both competent and caring and has been incredibly flexible in supporting extra work.

We’re very grateful to have them both on the team.

How Does Home Care Support Independence?

When people first hear the words “home care,” it’s often assumed that it means giving something up. In reality, it’s quite the opposite. The right support at home is designed to help people stay independent for longer, while continuing to live life in a way that feels familiar and comfortable.

Built around the individual

Home care is tailored to each person. Rather than fitting into a set routine, support is shaped around existing habits, preferences and daily life. Whether it’s getting up at a certain time, enjoying favourite meals or keeping up with hobbies, care works alongside these routines, not against them.

Supporting everyday life

For many, it’s the small things that make the biggest difference. A little help with personal care, preparing meals or getting out and about can remove some of the everyday challenges, making life feel more manageable. This support allows people to focus on what they can do, rather than what they can’t.

Building confidence

Knowing that someone is there to help when needed can make a real difference to confidence. With the right support in place, people often feel more able to stay active, maintain routines and continue doing the things that matter most.

Flexible as needs change

Home care can start small and adapt over time. As needs change, support can increase, helping people stay in control while continuing to live safely and comfortably at home.

At its heart, home care is about enabling independence, not replacing it. It’s about offering the right level of support to help people continue living life on their own terms.

Dementia Action Week (19th–25th May)

Dementia Action Week, taking place from 19th–25th May 2026, is a time to raise awareness, encourage understanding and support those living with dementia, as well as their families.

Living with dementia can bring daily challenges, not just for the individual but for loved ones too. Small changes in memory, communication and routine can have a big impact, which is why the right support and understanding can make such a difference.

For many people, remaining at home in familiar surroundings can help provide comfort and reassurance. With the right support in place, it’s possible to maintain routines, independence and a sense of normality for as long as possible.

At Everycare, we understand how important compassionate, personalised support is for those living with dementia. We’re here to help families navigate the journey with care, patience and understanding.

If you’d like to find out more about how we can support you or a loved one, please get in touch today on 01962 842548 or email info@everycarehants.co.uk.
