Food standards in UK residential care homes better than hospitals?

Residential care home food

The care home industry has received welcome feedback from friends and relatives of care home residents who have voted care home food standards better than hospitals.

A recent survey and report undertaken by YouGov entitled ‘Care Home Catering’ showed that many residential care home clients need help at meal times some or all of the time (51 per cent) and that very close to half of care home residents also need help some or all of the time with drinking (45 per cent).

However on the negative side 15% of residential care home clients considered that their friend or relative was not helped enough to eat and 16 per cent didn’t think their friend or relative was given sufficient assistance to remain properly hydrated.

It would appear that family and friends approve of the food but want more assistance given at food times. Food for thought as they say!
