More care at home required warns Government
The Government has confirmed that it is working towards ensuring more people receive care in their own home. This confirmation has come following the publication of a report from the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) which states that by 2030 there will be in excess of 2 million individuals aged 65 and over who will not have a child living close to home and who will as a result need assistance if care is required.
It also confirms that by 2017 the number of elderly people living in England who will require care assistance will be in excess of the number of family members who will be able to provide care.
The Government said it was working to make sure more people got care at home as it is forecast that over 200,000 elderly people will need more than 20 hours of home care every week.
